July 17, 2022 – SpaceX broke several of its own records with the Falcon 9 launch on Sunday morning. It was the 31st Falcon 9 mission of the year, the rocket itself was on a record-tying 13th mission, the specific fairing halves that protect the satellites during launch were being used for this purpose for a third time, but it also marked the 50th time that similar fairing halves have been reused on missions.

The Falcon 9 carried a cargo of 53 Starlink satellites that were deployed into the constellation that already boasts 2,800 such satellites.  The system is designed to bring high-speed internet access to areas that have not been able to get it.

Other Falcon 9 missions have taken crews to the International Space Station, delivered components for the RADARSAT Constellation Mission and the SCM-7 communications satellite.
