February 19, 2019—Manned test flights are on the schedule for this year, working toward the day when astronauts are once again lifted into space aboard vehicles launched from the Space Coast.  The Atlas V from the United Launch Alliance and the Falcon 9 from SpaceX are scheduled for flights later in 2019.

A crowd watches a launch from Titusville, Florida.

The Atlas V has flown 68 consecutive missions without failure between October 2007 and May 2018. The full list, going back to 1957, shows hundreds of launches and an impressive success rate overall.

Since their first mission in June 2010, rockets from the Falcon 9 family have been launched 68 times, with 66 full mission successes.

NASA.gov provides information on companies in Florida involved in the robust supply chain supporting launch and missions.  According to NASA, 214 Florida companies support NASA’s Exploration Ground Systems (EGS); 154 Florida companies support NASA’s Orion program; 41 Florida companies are on NASA’s SLS program. Florida is second overall only to California. Click here

NEXT LAUNCH: Sat. March 2, 2:48 am—SpaceX Falcon 9 from historic Launch Complex 39A, an uncrewed orbital test flight of Crew Dragon 2 capsule to the International Space Station marking a milestone in the Commercial Crew Program. Capsule will return and splash down 5 days later off our coast.
